Is Your Family Struggling To Work Through Conflict?

Does life in your home feel tense, anxious, and disconnected? Are your days full of:

  • Emotional distance and cycles of blame or avoidance?

  • Power struggles and an inability to compromise?

  • Parenting frustration and feelings of burnout and exhaustion?

Maybe you’re a parent who’s struggling to get through to your children and you feel like you’re on a short fuse with everyone in your household. Or perhaps you’re an adult child who’s having difficulty getting along with your parents now that you’re older and you realize their beliefs and values clash with yours. You might be experiencing conflict with siblings, in-laws, or your step family—but regardless of the family situation, therapy is a chance to bring peace back into the home.

You And Your Loved Ones May Be Stuck In Patterns That No Longer Serve You

Mornings may be rushed and filled with conflict and silence. Evenings may feel strained—everyone is on edge, walking on eggshells, eating separate meals, and retreating to separate rooms. Even small decisions can spark major power struggles. There may be a sense of living in survival mode—longing for more connection, but unsure of how to achieve it without aggravating old arguments and reopening old wounds.

Some days, it may feel like you and your loved ones can’t agree on anything. But if there’s one thing you can all recognize as clear as day, it’s that the patterns you’re stuck in just aren’t serving your family as a whole anymore.

If this is the case, I encourage you to pursue family therapy with me. As a licensed marriage and family counselor, I’m confident that I can help you and your loved ones work through disagreements, gain new skills for disarming conflict, and achieve harmony in the home.

In Our Increasingly Fractured World, Maintaining A Healthy Family Is Hard Work

All over social media, we see depictions of families who seem a thousand times happier and more connected than we are, which often leads to shame and fosters a toxic comparison culture. In reality, however, these picture-perfect depictions are usually a façade—most families today are struggling to find peace in these difficult times.

Many of us are juggling demanding careers, parenting responsibilities, and constant pressure to have it all together. And those of us with adopted children often struggle to navigate the unique developmental and behavioral challenges that often go hand in hand with adoption.

What’s more, generational, cultural, and identity-related differences can add layers of stress and misunderstanding, especially in blended, intercultural, or LGBTQ+ families. So it’s no wonder that more and more families are turning to therapy for healing and relief.

Most Families Struggle To Break Out Of Unhealthy Patterns Without Support

The truth is that how we parent our kids or communicate with our loved ones is often shaped by cultural or familial norms that weren’t always healthy or trauma-informed. As a result, many of us wind up in longstanding patterns that are incredibly deep-rooted and hard to unpack without the help of a professional. We might resort to defensiveness, anger, or avoidance to deal with conflict because that’s how we learned to deal with it as children.

The beauty of working with a family therapist is that they can help you dig deeper beneath these patterns and understand the “Why?” behind each person’s behavior. This way, you don’t have to keep arguing in circles about who didn’t do the dishes—you can get to the root of the problem and achieve lasting change as a family unit.

What To Expect In Family Counseling Sessions

You and your family members can expect to leave therapy with concrete tools for improving communication, strengthening attachment, and establishing healthy boundaries. I’ll help you understand how each person’s role, history, and unmet needs affect the overall family dynamic, and how small shifts can lead to lasting change.

My work is grounded in Family Systems Theory, which views the family as an emotional unit and uses systems-thinking to understand interactions between family members. I also bring in a variety of trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches to support emotional safety and healing, and I like to use Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy to help family members connect with their inner experiences and make space for each other’s parts.

Play therapy is at the core of my practice, especially when young children are involved. I include parents directly in play therapy sessions, guiding them on how to respond to their kids with warmth, support, and attunement. Whether we're working on managing toddler meltdowns or helping a child feel more understood, the goal is always to create stronger bonds and more peaceful interactions at home.

Ultimately, I want to help you and your loved ones identify the cycles you’re stuck in and figure out what each person needs to feel safe, connected, and understood.

Therapy Can Help Your Family Bring Harmony Back Into The Home

Even if you and your loved ones have been struggling for a long time, it’s possible to shift your family dynamic. You can repair trust, learn to communicate in healthier ways, and create a more connected and supportive relationship. Change might feel slow at first, but with the right support, your family can find a new rhythm that feels calmer, closer, and more authentic.

In my practice, I work with family members of all ages—as young as infant or toddler age—to strengthen connections and build healthier relationships. I’m capable of incorporating family play therapy into sessions with children, using toys, games, and art to help kids process and express big feelings. I involve parents directly in these play sessions, guiding them in how to respond with warmth, attunement, and support.

I always tailor my services to each family’s unique needs and strengths, and I’m capable of providing counseling for blended families, step families, families with adopted children, and any other unique family dynamics.

  • I’ll help you create a space where everyone’s voice matters. My role isn’t to judge or assign blame—it’s to help each person feel seen and understood so the family can grow together. I will support each member in exploring their perspective while guiding the family toward connection and clarity.

  • It’s never too late to seek support for your family. Besides, therapy isn’t always about “fixing” things exactly as you imagined. Sometimes healing looks like setting healthier boundaries, redefining relationships, or finding peace with change. Whether you’re working to rebuild trust, improve communication, or simply create a more respectful and manageable dynamic, family therapy offers guidance and support tailored to what your family truly needs.

  • When a family system starts to shift, there’s often a pull to return to the old “normal”—even if that normal wasn’t working. Kids might test boundaries to see if the changes are real, and emotions can feel more intense as unspoken issues surface. That’s all part of the process. I help families move through that tension at a steady, supported pace so that new patterns can take hold and start to feel more natural over time.
